For example, following sensing of fungal components by the PRR dectin 1 that is expressed on human dendritic cells, signalling via the kinase SYK leads to the formation of a complex that is composed of caspase 8 and mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma translocation protein 1 (MALT1); this complex binds to ASC, which possibly recruits cleavage substrates53.
